MLK in Chester

Just a quick note to show you Calvary Baptist Church, in Chester, Pennsylvania. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached in this church while living in Chester and studying at the Crozer Theological Seminary.

Here's a little essay written a few years ago by Stefan Roots. He's now the mayor of Chester and the man of the title of my new book, The Mayor, which will be out later this year.

I was lucky to attend an event one Sunday in the basement of Calvary Baptist, a forum for regional HBCUs.

The combination of being in the church and meeting many HBCU alumni was a real-life manifestation of how the work of King, and many other civil rights leaders, has paid dividends in the lives of millions.

And, man, they know how to feed you in Chester.
